Identity Woman Kaliya<\/a> will be\u00a0back to orchestrate\u00a0the next identity\u00a0unconference<\/a>, one in a series\u00a0that have played\u00a0a\u00a0key role in\u00a0the evolution of OpenID <\/a>and Information Cards<\/a>.\u00a0 If you are interested in identity, it's a great place to meet\u00a0a lot of people involved in the community.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The heart of the workshop is a practical idealism in working towards the shared vision of a decentralized, user-centric identity layer for the Internet.<\/p>\n

Because the web was built around “pages”, no tools or standards were created to control how the information about you was collected or used. At the Internet Identity Workshop we bring the people creating these tools and standards so people can safely manage their online identity and control their personal data.<\/p>\n

It is not about any one technology – rather it is a place to discuss multiple interoperating ?(and possible competing) ? projects, standards, and networks for identity, data sharing, and reputation.<\/p>\n

As part of Identity Commons, the Internet Identity Workshop creates opportunities for both innovators and competitors. We provide an open forum for both the big guys and the small fry to come together in a safe and balanced space.<\/p>\n

There are a wide range of projects in the community:<\/p>\n

  1. Open conceptual, community, and governance models.<\/li>\n
  2. Open standards and protocols.<\/li>\n
  3. Open source projects.<\/li>\n
  4. Commercial projects.<\/li>\n
  5. Projects to address social and legal implications of these technologies.<\/li>\n
  6. Efforts to rethink the business models and opportunities available with these new technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    User-centric identity is the ability:<\/p>\n

    • To use one's identifier(s) on more then one site<\/li>\n
    • To control who sees what information about you<\/li>\n
    • To selectively share presence and profile information<\/li>\n
    • To maintain multiple identities and personas in the contexts you wish<\/li>\n
    • To aggregate attention, navigation, and purchase history from the sites and communities you frequent<\/li>\n
    • To move and share your personal data, relationships, documents, and other publications as you wish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
