{"id":742,"date":"2007-04-05T07:36:52","date_gmt":"2007-04-05T15:36:52","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=742"},"modified":"2007-04-05T07:50:39","modified_gmt":"2007-04-05T15:50:39","slug":"mike-jones-and-self-issuedinfo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.identityblog.com\/?p=742","title":{"rendered":"Mike Jones and self-issued.info"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Everyone who has met me has probably met my colleague <a href=\"http:\/\/research.microsoft.com\/~mbj\/\">Mike Jones<\/a>, who&nbsp;put his work as a researcher at <a href=\"http:\/\/research.microsoft.com\">MSR <\/a>on hold&nbsp;because he got so interested in user-centric identity and&nbsp;Information Cards.&nbsp;&nbsp;He has now <a href=\"http:\/\/self-issued.info\/\">started to blog<\/a> &#8211;&nbsp;check out the InfoCard showing Mike and Dale onstage at Novell Brainshare.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For those new to Information Cards, you don&#39;t normally share an InfoCard with someone else.&nbsp; This was truly a &#8220;they did it because&nbsp;they could&#8221; moment&#8230;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On March 21st at Novell\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.novell.com\/brainshare\/\" class=\"broken_link\"><font color=\"#104893\">BrainShare 2007<\/font><\/a> conference, <a href=\"http:\/\/virtualsoul.org\/\"><font color=\"#104893\">Dale Olds<\/font><\/a> and I co-presented the session \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em><strong>Who are you?<\/strong> From Directories and Identity Silos to Ubiquitous User-Centric Identity<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. <a href=\"http:\/\/self-issued.info\/presentations\/BrainShare_mbj+dolds_21-Mar-07.ppt\"><font color=\"#104893\">Our presentation<\/font><\/a> was a brief history of digital identity solutions, ranging from a password per application to interoperable user-centric digital identity using the Information Card metaphor and several steps in between.<\/p>\n<p><img align=\"right\" src=\"\/wp-content\/images\/2007\/04\/mbj.jpg\" alt=\"demo self-issued card\" title=\"demo self-issued card\" \/>The coolest thing in the session was the first public demo of the Bandit\/Higgins cross-platform Identity Selector. During the demo Dale and I both used the same self-issued Information Card (that I created on the BrainShare show floor \ud83d\ude42 ) to log into a Bandit relying party site, Dale from Linux and me with Windows CardSpace. As Dale and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whoireallyam.com\/\" class=\"broken_link\"><font color=\"#104893\">Pat Felsted<\/font><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/virtualsoul.org\/blog\/2007\/03\/23\/all-your-infocard-are-belong-to-us\/\"><font color=\"#104893\">blogged<\/font><\/a>, two days later the Bandits also demonstrated their selector running on the Mac.
