{"id":507,"date":"2006-07-31T08:26:27","date_gmt":"2006-07-31T16:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=507"},"modified":"2006-07-31T09:28:08","modified_gmt":"2006-07-31T17:28:08","slug":"carspace-sandbox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.identityblog.com\/?p=507","title":{"rendered":"Carspace Sandbox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you want to try out Cardspace,&nbsp;you should go&nbsp;to <a href=\"http:\/\/sandbox.netfx3.com\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Cardspace Sandbox<\/a>&nbsp;and follow the install instructions there.<\/p>\n<p><img hspace=\"10\" src=\"\/wp-content\/images\/2006\/07\/sandbox.gif\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pamela Dingle has written about the site <a href=\"http:\/\/eternaloptimist.wordpress.com\/cardspace-quickstart\/\">here<\/a>.&nbsp; Her description of Cardspace is great, although I really do recommend following the installation instructions.&nbsp; In fact, if you don&#39;t follow them you will likely have problems.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that&nbsp;if you have installed previous versions of various components, they probably won&#39;t work properly for login until you put in the new versions.&nbsp; The reason is that in response to customers and other vendors, we have had to introduce &#8220;breaking changes&#8221;.&nbsp; People tell us about things that can be improved, and we try to do so.&nbsp;&nbsp;We&#39;ve chosen not to become&nbsp;enmired&nbsp;in&nbsp;&#8220;premature backward compatibility&#8221;&nbsp;given that we are&nbsp;still in beta.<\/p>\n<p>So I&#39;ll review some of what it tells you&nbsp;at&nbsp;the <a href=\"http:\/\/sandbox.netfx3.com\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Sandbox<\/a>:<\/p>\n<table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" border=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/windows\/ie\/downloads\/default.mspx\" class=\"broken_link\"><img alt=\"Install Internet Explorer 7.0\" src=\"\/wp-content\/images\/2006\/07\/one.bmp\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 52px\">&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td>The Sandbox site currently requires <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/windows\/ie\/downloads\/default.mspx\" class=\"broken_link\">Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 3<\/a> when using Windows CardSpace.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?FamilyId=62057A6F-185F-41DB-ABE5-678F6FC388F0&#038;displaylang=en\"><img alt=\"Install the .NET Framework 3.0 Runtime Componetns July CTP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/images\/2006\/07\/two.bmp\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 52px\">&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td>The Sandbox site requires the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?FamilyId=62057A6F-185F-41DB-ABE5-678F6FC388F0&#038;displaylang=en\">.NET Framework 3.0 Runtime Components July CTP<\/a> to be installed on your local Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 computer in order to use Windows CardSpace.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.identityblog.com\/user\/CreateUser.aspx?ReturnUrl=\/Default.aspx\" class=\"broken_link\"><img alt=\"Start using Windows CardSpace!\" src=\"\/wp-content\/images\/2006\/07\/three.bmp\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 52px\">&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td>Create a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.identityblog.com\/user\/CreateUser.aspx?ReturnUrl=\/Default.aspx\" class=\"broken_link\">new user account<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.identityblog.com\/login.aspx\" class=\"broken_link\">login<\/a> using your Information Card.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>Log into the Sandbox,&nbsp;and log into my site using the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.identityblog.com\/wp-login.php\">Login<\/a>&#8221; button.&nbsp; You won&#39;t need to create an account.&nbsp; Just answer the email my system sends you and you will be registered and able to comment.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, if you have previous beta versions of&nbsp;.NET framework or IE 7&nbsp;components above you need to go to the Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs, and delete them.&nbsp; You&#39;ll find detailed instructions if you follow the install links.&nbsp; I did it myself and didn&#39;t find it onerous at all, though I needed help removing the earlier version of IE 7.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.craigburton.com\/\">Craig Burton<\/a> writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/sandbox.netfx3.com\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Cardspace Sandox<\/a> looks like a good place to have some guidance for Infocards and Cardspace.
