{"id":1122,"date":"2010-06-12T00:42:58","date_gmt":"2010-06-12T08:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=1122"},"modified":"2010-06-12T01:44:41","modified_gmt":"2010-06-12T09:44:41","slug":"latitude-privacy-policy-doesnt-fess-up-to-what-google-stores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.identityblog.com\/?p=1122","title":{"rendered":"Latitude privacy policy doesn&#39;t fess up to what Google stores"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Never one to mince words, <a href=\"http:\/\/jacksonshaw.blogspot.com\">Jackson Shaw<\/a>\u00a0asks, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/jacksonshaw.blogspot.com\/2010\/06\/to-google-privacy-core-is-it-rotten.html\">To the Google privacy core \u2013 Is it rotten?<\/a>&#8221;\u00a0 He writes,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;I read Kim\u2019s post and immediately decided to turn off Google\u2019s Latitude service on my phone but, as Kim illustrates, it probably won\u2019t make any difference&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I took a few minutes to check out <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/a\/pressatgoogle.com\/latitude\/privacy\"><span style=\"color: #445566;\">Google\u2019s privacy policy around Latitude<\/span><\/a> and found out this much:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><p><em>&#8220;If you choose to &#8216;Hide your location&#8217;, you can hide from your Latitude friends all at once, so they won&#39;t be able to see your location. If you hide in Latitude, we don&#39;t store your location.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;I\u2019m not worried about hiding in Latitude.
