I've been working on\u00a0how to make the Laws of Identity<\/a> accessible to\u00a0busy\u00a0people without a technical background.\u00a0 If you have ideas\u00a0about how\u00a0this can be improved please let me know:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

People using computers should be in control of giving out information about themselves, just as they are in the physical world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Only information needed for the purpose at hand should be released, and only to those who need it, just as we don\u2019t indiscriminately broadcast our private information in daily life.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It should\u00a0NOT be possible to automatically link up everything we do in all aspects of how we use the Internet.\u00a0 <\/span>A single identifier\u00a0that stitches everything up\u00a0would be a big mistake.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

We need choice in terms of who provides our identity information in different contexts.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The system must be\u00a0built so that as users, we can understand how it works, make rational decisions and protect ourselves.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And finally, for all these reasons, we need a single, consistent, comprehensible\u00a0user experience even though behind the scenes, different technologies, identifiers and identity providers are being used.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
